Things To Do With Kids
With mountains and lakes, ball games and museums, Burlington is a playground for kids and families. If you’re ready for fun in the water, learn to sail at the Community Sailing Center or explore the beaches of Lake Champlain. Even better, get on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen for a sunset cruise. Of course, there’s plenty of fun to be had on dry land as well. Bike rental options are plentiful and kids love a ride to the Causeway and a trip on the Bike Ferry. The nearby Green Mountains also offer challenging climbs and easy, short hikes.
Visit ECHO at Leahy Center for an absorbing array of seasonal exhibits and permanent exhibitions highlighting the biology, geology, and history of the Lake Champlain basin, or stroll the grounds of the Shelburne Museum, where you’ll find one of the most eclectic collections anywhere with a real steamship and an historic circus carousel. The region also has some of the funnest factory tours you’ll find anywhere, including Vermont Teddy Bear and the Burton Snowboard factory.
If you’re timing is good, you can catch an amazing array of street performers at the Festival of Fools on Church Street, spend a morning at any one of our area Farmer’s Markets, or take in a baseball game with the Lake Monsters or a soccer match with Vermont Green FC
From natural history to modern art, there’s a lot to explore in Greater Burlington’s museums and galleries.
