Williston is where the foothills of the Green Mountains open up into the Champlain Valley. Along with being one of the state’s fastest growing towns and a major retail hub, it was also home to Thomas Chittenden, President of the Vermont Republic (yes, Vermont was once a country!) and the state’s first Governor. The former governor’s mansion is now part of the Catamount Outdoor Family Center.
