Governor Phil Scott proclaims September as Access to the Arts Month, and The Flynn is leading the statewide celebration. From Broadway tours and world-class performances to free public events in city streets, town greens, and rural communities, The Flynn is bringing arts to every corner of Vermont. More than a theater, it is a cultural force showing that creativity belongs everywhere in the state.

Vermont Access to the Arts

For Vermonters, arts are more than entertainment, they are a way to connect. Governor Phil Scott’s proclamation of September as Access to the Arts Month affirms their essential role in Vermont’s cultural, civic, and economic life, uniting communities across generations and places while sparking imagination, learning, and joy.

When Executive Director Jay Wahl joined The Flynn, he spoke often about making the arts “porous” so it flows between the stage and the community, reaching beyond theater walls. Access to the Arts Month is that vision, realized.

This is why The Flynn is stepping beyond the theater and into town greens, fields, and city streets to show that the arts aren’t just for some of us, but for all of us.
