Throw in apple cider, apple pie, and cider doughnuts, not to mention local peaches, plums, or pears, and you’ve got more reasons to go apple picking than any reasonable person needs. Here are a few orchards in the area that are worth a visit this fall.
SHELBURNE ORCHARDS
Shelburne Orchards is a family-owned and operated orchard just a few miles from Burlington, in Shelburne, Vermont. Specializing in apples, Shelburne Orchards also grows and harvests peaches, plums, sour cherries and table grapes. Explore the 60-acre orchard and pick your own during the apple season! (September - October) Come check out the orchard or pick up some freshly baked products! Cider Doughnuts, Apple & Ginger Cider, and even Apple Brandy!
CHAPIN ORCHARDS
Chapin Orchards, located in Essex, Vermont is a beautiful 20-minute ride from Burlington by way of some amazing fall foliage. Growing over 20 varieties of apples, Chapin Orchards also features hay rides through the orchard and freshly baked fall products, from pies, doughnuts, and pastries, to freshly made cider and maple syrups. Open from early September through October.
