BRIGHTWATER TOOLS
Back to Top of ListAfter creating the Rich Earth Institute, Kim Nace and Abe Noe-Hays spun off a new company in 2019, Brightwater Tools, focusing on the shifting paradigm that allows human waste to become a resource. As a homegrown Vermonter and using a well known technique from maple sugaring, Abe and his team have designed and tested equipment to freeze, thaw and concentrate nutrients from high strength liquid waste streams. The waste is converted into nutrient rich fertilizer.
Brightwater Tools has developed a patented building-scale wastewater nutrient recovery system. Three proprietary pieces of equipment will facilitate the transition to recover valuable nutrients from the waste stream. Each part can be sold individually or together. Addressing the value propositions of each, we will become a major equipment provider to this industry.
ENRICHEDHQ
Back to Top of List
In 2020, single mother and technology leader Carleen Haylett witnessed pandemic-driven gaps in the U.S. educational space when her fifth-grade son began to thrive with homeschooling. The schoolwork was manageable, but the lack of affordable virtual extracurricular programs available, which would stimulate his development as a student preparing for middle and high school, was a shock. Torn between motherhood and her career, corporate pressure mounted, she left her job.
She founded EnrichedHQ to solve the logistical nightmare of finding and managing options for kids who no longer need day care or a sitter, bridging childcare through high school. Leveraging her 20+ years in technology development, product management, and sales, she developed a platform that offers virtual extracurricular programs for middle and high school age children that enrich and prepare them for life. Working parents are able to find an immediate remedy for this common parental stressor through their employers. Through corporate partnerships, EnrichedHQ is able to provide much needed relief in balancing work and homelife through family and employee benefit programs.

OFFSHORE GREENS
Back to Top of ListOffshore Greens is an adventure lifestyle company founded on the belief that a connection with nature is essential to enhanced human health. We provide daily superfood supplements containing plant-based protein combined with collagen stimulating marine greens. Our initial product features foundational hero ingredients of kelp and mushrooms, available in chai and matcha flavors, that fund kelp reforestation projects to sink carbon and create vital animal habitats.
As a former professional skier, a life changing experience 30 nautical miles out to sea was unexpected. However, stranded on an island in a hurricane was exactly where Offshore would originate. Diving for, and surviving on, the long blades of golden sugar kelp cultivated a connection with nature that I had previously never known. Combine that with the climate stabilizing powers kelp has to sequester carbon, create habitat and protect our coastlines and Offshore was inevitable.

SHRUBBLY
Back to Top of ListGrowing from its roots to a small, organic, berry farm in Hinesburg, you can now find Shrubbly in more than 500 markets and cafés throughout the US. Shrubbly’s founder Matt Sayre says “There is so much low-hanging fruit. And, I’m not just talking about our hero ingredient, Aronia berries. We are barely just getting started. I need to start saying yes to more buyers who would like to put Shrubbly on their shelves, which is why I’ve decided to accelerate the growth of Shrubbly with the support of Launch VT and this great community that we are so thankful to be part of.” Shrubbly is a lightly sparkling beverage with crisp, thirst-quenching flavor and naturally occurring benefits from old-fashioned mixers called Shrubs. The company reached back in time to lead an American revival of old-fashioned Shrub mixers as a way to make Apple Cider Vinegar enjoyable to drink. Shrubbly is America’s original functional beverage made modern. Unlike most of the other functional beverages that you see on shelves today, Shrubbly‘s flavor and function comes from pressed, organic fruit, and herbs and spices, never from laboratories, artificial sweeteners, or powders. You could say it’s old-fashioned common-sense in a can, and that it’s Vermont’s version of a functional beverage. You can find Shrubbly in markets throughout Vermont and beyond, and online at shrubbly.com.
